STRAY CATS HELPFUL TIPS AND HINTS

HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL TIPS AND TRICKS , ESPECIALLY FOR NEWCOMERS…

1. If you still have older cats or unborn kittens (shells) version 1.40-1.43, you need to update to our current version 1.44a.

     They cannot be used until you do.

     The Updater is located at the Stray Cats HQ, the room on the right, under ‘Tools’.  It is free.

      A.    When you update your live cats, please turn off Movement, and do NOT remove the cats from the Updater until

              completed.   You might find that the Updater seems to have stalled.  But if you watched it updating, and all the cats

              were replaced with the new version 1.44a, then it is safe to pick up the Updater anyway.  It is finished.  

              It could be just lag.

      B.    When you are updating, please only put in shells or cats, not both at one time.  Do not mix.   

              Put in up to 30 at one time in the Updater circle range.

 IN LOCAL CHAT, THE UPDATER PRINTS OUT THE IDS OF THE CATS IT’S REPLACING WITH NEW VERSIONS (for your reference).

      C.    After your updates, remember to re-set your live cats settings.   I.E.  Range, Mating, Animations, Movement, etc.

             These settings were all reset to default when they were updated.

              

NOTE:  Live Cats will come out of the Updater little (kitten-size).  This is normal.  They will pop back to normal size within an hour.  Regardless of size, they will function as normal.  So if pregnant, it will continue as normal, for example.

2.  This one is really important !    

IF SOMEONE BUYS A KITTY FROM A VENDOR AND THEN GIVES IT TO YOU, but it’s not working??? Why???   

THE BUYER MUST MUST MUST REZZ OUT THE CAT ONCE.   Only then is it fully created and ready to use.    

An Example:   If your friend buys a Zodiac Cat, but NEVER REZZES it out once as needed, and just passes it to you,

there will be an error.   That kitty does not have any Owner information without being rezzed out by the purchaser.   

On rez, the cat communicates to the server to tell them “I am here, I belong to…….)”.  

So just passing it without ever rezzing, it is a little lost kitten.

IF THAT HAPPENS, PLEASE CONTACT Nicolyti Resident (General Manager) inworld - we’ll need to hunt this one down in the server and find it for you.

3. IF YOUR CAT DOES NOT BIRTH-WAKE PROPERLY. Sometimes scripts lag out in SL; sometimes they fail to get a message out of SL to our server.   So you need to now fix that one so you can birth it.

First - LOOK IN CONTROL-ALT-T in your viewer (transparencies will show in red).  DELETE THE TRANSPARENT LITTLE BOX left over from the failed birth.    

Second - Please get the free Emergency Kit from our Stray Cats HQ.  

Rez it, place the shell in it’s range, and click.

It will replace the broken one with a new one from the server.   You may now birth it from the new.

4.   IF YOUR CATS ARE NOT EATING AND THEIR TEXT HAS CHANGED TO RED,  

First, make sure they are our current version, 1.44 or 1.44a or 1.44b

Maybe increase their range.  It might be set too small, relative to where you have their bowls.    Min of 5m .  There is no max, however, a great range might create a more lag.

Still not eating?

     a.  USE YOUR CAT HUD AND SET THEIR HOME POSITIONS AND TP HOME YOUR CATS.

     b.  PICK UP AND RE-REZ YOUR FOOD & MILKS BOWLS

     c.  PICK UP AND RE-REZ YOUR CAT(S) THAT ARE RED, but only rez out 3 at a time, as that is the max that can eat

          from a bowl at the same time.   After the first 3 have eaten and drank milk, then you can rez out the next 3.  Max 10-12 cats per set of bowls.

     d.  Still no?   Try new bowls.  And take some cats and bowls to another sim, perhaps a sandbox, or you can always use our home sim of Bast, and rezz them there.  

          Do they  eat now?  If so, you have an issue with your home sim and we recommend contacting your landlord and/or restarting your sim.  But also, check your scripts

          usage.  The sim might be overloaded and then scripted objects are having issues running properly.  

5.  YOU MIGHT FIND THAT YOUR CATS DESIRE IS READY, BUT THEY DON'T MATE,

First, make sure they are both our current version, 1.44+.

Second, make sure the mating setting is correct - double check that each of the pair has the correct partner listed.

Third, try re-rezzing your cats.

Fourth, try turning on animations & movement so that they can run to each other.   We often finds that this does the job, especially if your range is set to a low number.

HEARTS WILL BLOOM INTO THE AIR AFTER MATING, AND THE FEMALE WILL NOW HAVE LIGHT PINK TEXT, WITH A BOTTOM COUNTDOWN LINE - 72 HRS FOR A NORMAL PREGNANCY, OR, IF THERE ARE LEs (Limited Editions currently running) THEN 120 MINUTES  WILL SHOW IF YOU ARE HAVING AN LE.

     

6. IF YOU BUY ATTACHMENTS FOR YOUR CATS,

     THEY WILL GO INTO YOUR SERVER ACCOUNT WITH US.   

      You will NOT receive anything in your inventory in-world.

      To apply what you bought to your cat:

           Add your Cat HUD to yourself

           Click Webtools and open that page.

           Go to ‘CAT INFO” tab (that is where you will see all your live cats)

           Scroll and find the cat you wish to have the new attachment, click the green box “Attach”

           Another page will pop open with a dropdown menu - look in the list to find the attachment you wish to assign

           and then click ‘ADD’ and OK.

           Now, go back to in-world, pick up and re-rez that cat.    Then click the cat for it’s menu, and in ‘Settings’ click

           on the ACC1 (head),  ACC2 (neck/body),  to turn on or off accessories

If you don’t see the attachment, try re-rezzing, maybe on a different region.  Maybe you need to relog to see?

Still no?   Try passing to a friend or alt - sometimes a change of ownership will update the cat’s info.

Still no?  For whatever reason that cat is being stubborn and Nicolyti or the scripter will need to check it’s data in the server and make sure all is okay for you.   Please make a NC and pass it Nicolyti Resident (Nic♥),   It will be fixed for you.

     

7.     IF YOU ARE AT ANOTHER SIM, AND NEED TO REZ YOUR CAT WEAR THE TAG IF NEEDED  OTHERWISE YOUR CAT MIGHT GO POOF AND IF IT DOES JUST RELOG AND LOOK IN INVENTORY OBJECTS OR LOST AND FOUND. MOST LIKELY YOUR CAT WILL BE THERE.   If it isn’t, contact Nicolyti Resident inworld - she will pull your cat from the server for you.

                  

 8. IF YOU HAVE CATS THAT ARE SICK THEIR TEXT WILL BE BLACK

        This means that they/it has been without food in-world for 4.5 days.  

        Cats will not turn Black text if they do not have milk.   Then their text will only be orange.  

        It is only lack of food that makes it sick.

        You will need a health kit for each cat with black text.   

       The kits are available at Stray Cats HQ.

       When you buy a kit, it goes onto our server in your account.   You will NOT receive anything in inventory.

           To Apply the Kit:

           Add your Cat HUD to yourself

           Click Webtools and open that page.

           Go to ‘CAT INFO” tab (that is where you will see all your live cats)

           Scroll and find the cat you wish to heal and click the red ‘Heal’ button

           A second page will pop up asking for your confirmation to use your health kit, click Yes OK.

           In-world, pickup and re-rez the cat and it is healed and back to good health.  :)
